Surgical care under field conditions
The operating theatre is the core of surgical care in a Red Cross Emergency Hospital. Procedures that cannot be postponed under field conditions are performed here — from wound care and the removal of foreign bodies to complex emergency surgery.
The GRC Emergency Hospital has a fully equipped operating area that enables safe surgical operations even under difficult conditions. The entire power supply runs on generators — a power outage is not an option.
According to the ICRC, more than 11,300 surgical procedures have been performed at the Red Cross Emergency Hospital in Rafah since May 2024.
