Base Camp – Placeholder

Accommodation and rest for the team

The staff of a Red Cross Emergency Hospital live where they work. The base camp provides sleeping quarters, common rooms and basic services for the entire team — typically around 30 international experts per rotation, supported by local staff.

Working in a Red Cross Emergency Hospital is physically and mentally demanding. Rest periods and a safe place to retreat to are not a comfort, but a precondition for the team's operational capability. Psychosocial support for staff is also part of the GRC Emergency Hospital concept.

At the Red Cross Emergency Hospital in Rafah, the delegates' living quarters had to be partially repurposed to set up a makeshift camp after the logistics base fell within a militarily ordered evacuation zone.
