S5 · Technical Support & Workshop
Maintenance and technical operation of the Emergency Hospital
Alongside doctors and nursing staff, technicians are an integral part of a Red Cross Emergency Hospital. Without them, nothing runs smoothly. In the workshop, equipment is maintained, repairs are carried out, and assistive devices are produced in-house when needed.
The Red Cross Emergency Hospital in Rafah was originally designed to operate for around four months. After two years of deployment, the tent structure is showing additional wear from weather exposure — compounded by damage from gunfire. The technical team continuously repairs tears, leaks and bullet holes to keep the hospital running.
Due to shortages of consumables, the technical team at the Red Cross Emergency Hospital in Rafah produces missing equipment such as crutches and other mobility aids in-house.
