Showers & Toilets – Placeholder

Hygienic separation between staff and patients

Functioning sanitary facilities are a basic medical requirement in a Red Cross Emergency Hospital. Showers and toilets are strictly separated: patients and their families use their own facilities, while staff have separate sanitary facilities. This separation reduces infection risks and protects both groups.

At the Red Cross Emergency Hospital in Rafah, maintaining hygiene standards is a constant challenge. Scabies at times accounts for more than 30% of outpatient cases. More frequent deep cleaning and the use of mosquito nets for inpatients with open wounds are among the countermeasures.

The water supply for the sanitary facilities is provided by the hospital's own treatment system — see the external Water Treatment station for more.
