Coordination, data capture and reporting
A Red Cross Emergency Hospital does more than treating patients— it must also be coordinated, documented and managed with accountability. The administration runs day-to-day operations, plans staff rotations, maintains documentation and coordinates with local partner facilities.
A central tool here is the Red Cross Health Information System (RCHIS) — a digital health information system used by the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. It records patient data, diagnoses and treatment courses systematically and securely. This ensures that the care of every patient remains fully traceable — even during transfers or staff changes.
At the same time, the system provides the basis for reporting: key figures such as consultations, surgeries or births are continuously analysed and feed into operational planning and donor communication.
