Water Treatment – Placeholder

Production of drinking water through reverse osmosis

In a Red Cross Emergency Hospital, the need for clean water goes far beyond drinking: it is required for sterilisation, wound care, cleaning, the kitchen and the operation of sanitary facilities. Without assured water quality, no medical operation is possible.

The GRC Emergency Hospital produces its own drinking water. Reverse osmosis units filter available water and bring it up to drinking water quality — regardless of whether tap water, well water or brackish water is available locally.

At the Red Cross Emergency Hospital in Rafah, around 5,000 litres of drinking water are produced this way every day — for patients, their families and the entire staff. When other Red Cross sites in Rafah face shortages, water is transported to them as well.
