Dispensing medication after outpatient treatment
After examination, outpatients receive their prescribed medication here. It is dispensed directly on site — short distances are essential in a Red Cross Emergency Hospital.
At the Red Cross Emergency Hospital in Rafah, the supply of medication is an ongoing challenge. Due to supply shortages, painkillers must be rationed at times: adult outpatients receive only a single dose so that as many patients as possible can be treated. Children under five continue to receive the full prescribed treatment. The tetanus vaccine is also temporarily unavailable, meaning that wounded patients with shrapnel injuries cannot be fully treated.
